I could have built this site using one of the many excellent portfolio site hosting services, such as Squarespace or Wix. What fun would that be? I decided to use the project as a learning opportunity instead.
Without giving away too many of the details and potentially opening up myself to hackers, this WordPress site is running on an AWS EC2 instance. I’m using Wordfence to manage security.
Getting this all up and running was fun, but the devil is in the details. Not everything that you read in guided tutorials is really the correct path to take. That’s where you try, fail, and then try something else.
The level of hacking activity faced by this simple site is absolutely astounding! I spent more time on security than any other aspect of the project.
I’m expecting the content and features here to continue to evolve as I have more time.
